Synodus

A privacy-first collaboration platform for secure research collaboration, resource scheduling, and AI-assisted research workflows.

Abstract

Synodus is a privacy-first, self-hostable collaboration platform designed for research teams and academic laboratories. It brings task management, team communication, collaborative documents, secure file sharing, resource scheduling, and AI-assisted summarization into a single system. Its goal is to help research groups coordinate work more efficiently while reducing tool fragmentation, avoiding resource conflicts, and maintaining stronger control over sensitive or unpublished research data.

The problem

Small research teams often use separate tools for tasks, communication, documents, and resource booking, causing fragmented information, booking conflicts, and increased administrative work. Existing platforms can be expensive, general-purpose, or unsuitable for securely managing sensitive research data.

The solution

We are developing a privacy-first, self-hostable collaboration platform that combines task management, resource booking, document collaboration, and notifications. The system will provide secure data handling, role-based access, real-time collaboration, and AI-assisted task extraction and summarization to reduce administrative overhead and improve research coordination.
