Abstract

MotorX is a B2B second-hand vehicle marketplace designed to connect buyers with verified vehicle dealers through a secure, structured, and scalable platform. The system supports dealership onboarding, role-based access control, bulk inventory uploads through an ETL pipeline, vehicle image processing, intelligent natural-language search, listing moderation, and event-based notifications. Dealers can manage large inventories efficiently while administrators maintain platform quality, security, and operational oversight.

The problem

Vehicle dealers often manage large inventories using disconnected spreadsheets and manual processes. This creates problems with duplicate records, invalid vehicle data, slow image uploads, difficult vehicle discovery, and limited administrative visibility. Buyers also need a faster and more natural way to search for vehicles beyond rigid filters.

The solution

MotorX provides a centralized B2B platform where verified dealers can upload and manage vehicle inventory at scale. Its ETL pipeline extracts, transforms, validates, normalizes, and deduplicates bulk CSV data before creating vehicle listings. Buyers can search using structured filters and natural-language queries, while administrators manage dealer verification, listing moderation, user access, upload monitoring, audit logs, and notifications.

In detail

MotorX is a B2B second-hand vehicle marketplace developed for dealers, buyers, and platform administrators.

The platform enables dealers to submit dealership applications, maintain business profiles, create individual listings, and upload large inventories using category-specific CSV templates. The ETL pipeline processes bulk inventory by extracting CSV data, normalizing values, validating category-specific vehicle attributes, detecting duplicates, saving valid records, and storing rejected records with clear error information.

Vehicle images can be uploaded through ZIP archives organized by registration number. The image-processing workflow matches each folder to the correct listing and attaches the relevant images automatically.

Buyers can browse vehicles using structured filters such as category, make, model, year, price, fuel type, transmission, body type, and condition. The system also supports intelligent natural-language search, allowing users to describe the type of vehicle they want in ordinary language.

Administrators can review and approve dealer applications, reject applications with reasons, moderate vehicle listings, suspend accounts, monitor upload jobs, review audit logs, and inspect system health. Role-based access control ensures that buyers, dealers, and administrators only access the functionality appropriate to their responsibilities.

MotorX includes an event-based notification system. Users receive in-app notifications for important platform events, while high-priority events such as dealer approval decisions, failed uploads, partial ETL results, listing removals, and account suspension can also trigger email notifications.

The system uses React and TypeScript for the frontend, Node.js and Express for the backend, MongoDB Atlas for persistent data, Redis and BullMQ for asynchronous processing, Firebase Authentication for identity management, MinIO or S3-compatible storage for vehicle files, and Docker Compose for deployment and development.
