Hostel administration is often handled using paper records, spreadsheets and informal messaging, making it difficult to maintain accurate information about room occupancy, student allocations, maintenance complaints, visitor requests and payments. Wardens may need to manage information across different records, while students have limited visibility into the status of their requests and important hostel updates.

Another Home provides a centralized platform for managing hostel operations and student accommodation services. The administrator-facing PWA brings room and bed management, student allocation, maintenance, visitor requests, payments and announcements into one dashboard, while the student mobile application provides access to accommodation details, maintenance requests, payment information, announcements and visitor requests.

Another Home is a Smart Hostel and Boarding Management Platform developed to improve the way student accommodation is managed. The system is designed around two user sides: a web-based Progressive Web App for hostel administrators and wardens, and a Flutter mobile application for students.

The administrator dashboard provides a centralized view of hostel operations. Wardens can manage hostel buildings, floors, rooms and beds, allocate students to available beds, monitor occupancy, handle maintenance requests, review visitor requests, track payment information and publish announcements. The dashboard is designed to provide clear operational information through tables, status indicators, statistics and management workflows.

The student application focuses on self-service. Students can view their assigned accommodation details, submit and track maintenance complaints, monitor payment status, receive announcements and submit visitor requests. This reduces the need for students to depend on manual communication with hostel administration for routine requests.

The system follows a modular software architecture with clear separation of responsibilities. The web application is developed using React and Tailwind CSS, while the student application is developed using Flutter. Backend services are planned with NestJS and provide REST APIs for authentication, accommodation and other hostel operations, with MySQL used for persistent data storage.

Another Home is intended to replace fragmented manual workflows with a more organized digital platform, improving record keeping, communication and operational efficiency while providing a foundation for future extensions such as QR-based verification and IoT-enabled hostel services.
