A Multi-Tenant SaaS Platform for Community-Driven Hyper-Local Environmental Monitoring and Cleanup Coordination
EcoTrack is a multi-tenant SaaS platform that helps community environmental groups (local NGOs, lake conservation societies, and volunteer collectives) coordinate pollution incident reporting and cleanup efforts in one place, replacing the scattered mix of WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets, and social media posts these organizations currently rely on. Citizens use a React Native mobile app to submit geo-tagged, photo-verified reports of environmental hazards like illegal dumping or water pollution. These reports enter a shared incident pool, where organization administrators (using a Next.js web dashboard) claim reports within their registered service area, convert them into volunteer tasks or community cleanup events, and track progress through a fully customizable workflow they can configure without any technical help. The platform is built on a NestJS backend with a PostgreSQL + PostGIS database, using row-level security to keep each organization's data strictly isolated while running on a single shared, low-cost infrastructure. It gives small, resource-constrained environmental groups the kind of structured coordination tooling that's normally only available to municipal or enterprise-scale systems.
Local environmental groups frequently rely on manual, fragmented communication tools (like WhatsApp groups, shared spreadsheets, and social media feeds), which lack structural efficiency, leading to duplicated reports, unaccountable volunteer tracking, and data loss. Existing environmental management systems are often designed for government agencies or large-scale enterprises, requiring complex GIS expertise and high costs. Therefore, there is a clear need for a simple, mobile-first, and affordable SaaS platform that enables centralized reporting, task assignment for volunteers, and transparent progress tracking for small-scale environmental protection groups.
Environmental pollution incidents such as illegal dumping, water pollution, and blocked drainage are often reported informally through fragmented channels (social media, messaging), making it difficult for local environmental groups to verify, track, and act upon them. This project delivers a centralized Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform for community-driven environmental coordination. The system operates on a data-driven model where citizens and volunteers use a cross-platform mobile application to report localized hazards using geo-tags and images. Organization administrators can verify these reports, convert them into actionable tasks or events via a responsive web interface, assign tasks to volunteers, customize status tracking workflows without technical expertise, and monitor overall progress.
Inputs: Citizens' geolocation data, photo uploads of environmental issues, text descriptions, community urgency indicators, task updates, and event RSVP statuses.
Outputs: An interactive hyper-local incident map, organized volunteer task schedules, real-time proximity alerts, automated notifications, and structural dashboard analytics showing environmental restoration progress.
