The system allows registered travelers to create personalized travel plans by providing information such as destination, duration, budget, travel companions, interests, and special requirements in natural language. The Agentic AI System processes these requirements and generates a complete day-by-day itinerary with recommended attractions, restaurants, hotels, and activities. Users can then continue the conversation to modify or regenerate parts of the itinerary and save the final plan for future use.
SmartJourney also provides destination exploration with filtering, a travel budget tracker, subscription management, saved itineraries, and configurable notifications including trip reminders, weather alerts, and budget alerts. Interactive maps allow users to visualize destinations and routes while exploring travel information.
The platform uses a layered architecture consisting of a Presentation Layer, Application Layer, and Data Layer. The Presentation Layer contains the web and mobile applications, while the Application Layer handles business logic, authentication, tourism content, and the Agentic AI System. The Data Layer uses PostgreSQL hosted on Amazon RDS for storing user profiles, itineraries, tourism information, and other system records.
The Agentic AI System is implemented using Python, FastAPI, and LangChain and communicates with the Gemini API. The platform also integrates services such as Google Maps, OpenWeather, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Amazon SES. The deployment architecture uses AWS cloud infrastructure, with separate environments for the frontend, NestJS application backend, AI service, and PostgreSQL database. Overall, SmartJourney combines multi-agent AI, personalized recommendation, conversational interaction, tourism data, mapping, weather information, budget management, and cloud-based services to create an intelligent and centralized travel-planning experience.
